Emissie van NMVOS naar lucht door de industrie ...
Deze indicator toont de evolutie van de industriële uitstoot van niet-methaan vluchtige organische stoffen (NMVOS) in de omgevingslucht (zie ook indicator: ‘Emissie van NMVOS naar lucht'). Diverse NMVOS komen onder andere vrij bij de op- en overslag van oplosmiddelen en brandstoffen en bij het gebruik van solventen tijdens de procesvoering.
Een aantal niet-methaan vluchtige organische stoffen (NMVOS) zijn kankerverwekkend (benzeen, vinylchloride, 1,3-butadieen). Daarnaast spelen NMVOS als ozonprecursor (voorloper) een rol in de fotochemische luchtverontreiniging.
